Edward Birzin

Edward Birzin is an author, researcher and former graffiti writer whose work examines how graffiti is documented, interpreted and culturally constructed. He holds a PhD in Cultural and Literary Studies from Freie Universität Berlin. His dissertation, Subway Art(efact), studies the role of key publications in shaping the way New York graffiti came to be understood as a cultural and artistic phenomenon.

For Ruyzdael Publishing, Birzin authored Subway Art(efact) and contributed the introduction and revised texts to Repainting Subway Art.
