A new album as a collection. Rariteitenkabinet marks a new chapter in the work of Duvel, bringing together 15 new tracks produced by RayTheBarbarian and Ballantyne Beats.
Typically atypical Duvel: sharp lyrics, dry humour and unexpected turns, moving between personal history and social commentary. The record shifts freely between classic hardcore hip hop and influences from other genres, assembled like a carefully curated cabinet of curiosities. Part of the album was first heard in the Rariteitenkabinet installation, presented in the exhibition Hip Hop Is at the Groninger Museum.
The language is Dutch. The impact is not. It’s music that may not translate, but it resonates, vibrates and hits the gut all the same.
